Secrets in the Air
Flying is in Rhett O’Neil’s blood. And nothing makes this pilot fly higher than wrapping himself in his husband Kaden’s arms. He’s thrilled when his grandfather entrusts him with O’Neil Airways, the family’s charter airplane business. With a mix of humanitarian and corporate clients, Rhett plans a bright future where his success improves the world.
Elise, Rhett’s estranged mother, begins offering advice to “help” her son through the transition into increased responsibility. As evidence surfaces that her words are escalating into devastating actions, the truth comes out about the death of Rhett’s sister Annabelle. Following a harrowing mission, Kaden has to race to protect his husband and himself from the consequences of the Secrets in the Air before it’s too late.
Whether it’s contemporary, PNR, M/M, etc., the books and/or series that center around an established couple in a romance are few and far between. When I stumble on one it peaks my curiosity. It’s one of the reasons I picked up Secrets in the Air. Now I can’t wait to continue the series. 🙂
Kaden and Rhett were the perfect couple. They loved and respected each other and after thirteen years, the romance was still strong. This story was more than just a romance though. It was full of suspense, mystery and a few curves thrown in to keep things interesting.
The relationship between Kaden and Rhett wasn’t the only important dynamic in Secrets in the Air. There were characters that I both loved and hated. You know that an author has your attention when characters have you fuming from the minute that they’re introduced. Let’s just say that there are some people who should never be allowed to have children…. really.
Even though the relationship between Kaden and Rhett was established, Secrets in the Air wasn’t lacking in the romance department. It wasn’t lacking in anything else either. The characters were strong (I loved Rhett’s grandfather and Kaden’s mom) as well as the suspense that kept the pages turning. There were twists, turns and revelations and through it all, Kaden and Rhett were there for each other and everyone else they loved and cared about.
This is my first Liz Borino read and it definitely won’t be my last. I’ve already picked up the second book in the Secrets series, No Time for Secrets and I’d love to give you a hint about what it’s about, but that would be spoilery and you know how I feel about spoilers. 😉 You’ll just have to read Secrets in the Air to figure out what I’m talking about.
