The jobs Marcus Lowry works for at Phoenix, Inc. Investigations are quick and easy, and they don’t give him the nightmares his days as a CIA operative did. That is, until he gets involved in a case that grabs him by the throat and won’t let go.
Cole Jacobs left behind his old life on the streets to make a name for himself rebuilding high-end and vintage cars and bikes. But when a stalker threatens to kill him—and to hurt anyone who stands in his way—his past closes in on him, and he’s not sure where to turn.
The last thing Marcus wants to do is take on a charity case, and to say that he and Cole don’t see eye to eye at first is putting things mildly. But when the first attempt on Cole’s life nearly kills them both, Marcus realizes that Cole is in real danger, and Cole is forced to reveal everything. Almost everything. Because Cole’s deepest secrets could destroy them both.
Okay, so I’m behind. *hangs head in shame* It’s alright though because No Boundaries served two purposes. It was the perfect intro to S.E. Jakes’ Phoenix, Inc. series and it gave me the final shove I needed to start the Men of Honor series. Now that we’ve revealed my procrastination issues, we can get on with the review.
Cole pretty much didn’t trust anyone. He had good reasons, but he wasn’t sharing. Marcus trusted people who had proven themselves and since he knew that Cole was hiding something, he wasn’t going to cut him any slack. Sounds like the perfect couple, right? LOL!
There was a lot going on in No Boundaries… between a lot of people. I loved the dynamic between the characters. Not just Cole and Marcus. Law, Styx and Paulo added a whole new layer to this story. All three of these guys kept Marcus focused and gave Cole the support he needed – whether he realized it or not. I loved the relationships and the interactions. Law, Styx and Paulo balanced the tension between Cole and Marcus. They were more than just a sounding board, they were the perfect support system for both of them and each other.
There wasn’t much down time in No Boundaries. Yes, there was plenty of heat, but the danger that surrounded them was always there. There was suspense, action, lots of sexual tension and more than a few revelations that kept the pages turning. I can’t wait for the next book!
In the mean time, as I’ve mentioned, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Almost as soon as I finished reading No Boundaries I picked up Bound by Honor, the first book in S.E. Jakes Men of Honor series. I have to admit that my ulterior motive was to get me closer to Law, Styx and Paulo’s book, Bound by Law. Yeah, I’ve got some catching up to do, but I’m going to enjoy every minute of it 😉
