Bout-of-Books 9.0 Day 1 Challenges

boutofbooks1BlogSmallBout-of-Books is off to a flying start and because I couldn’t resist, I decided to take part in today’s challenges. I don’t always have time, but today I do, so let the fun begin!

The first challenge is hosted by Bookish Comforts. Her Book Buying Spree was a lot of fun. I’ve never been to The Book Depository so this one made it doubly fun. 😉 All you have to do is put a wish list of books together in your shopping cart and share your list. The only catch is it can’t total more than $100. If you’re a Bout-of-Books participant and want to play along, check out Bookish Comforts challenge page. If you haven’t joined Bout-of-Books yet, there’s still time. The sign-up is open until Wednesday.

So, what books are on my wish list? The list is much longer than this, but these are currently at the top. Keep in mind that this list changes weekly… (sometimes daily and at times even hourly.)

Screen Shot 2014-01-06 at 9.48.39 AMThe second Challenge today was a Mad Lib Challenge hosted by Cheap Thrills. This was a fun one 😉 You know how Mad Libs work, right? Well in this version, you pick book titles to come up with your word list. Here are the words/titles that you have to choose.

character name – The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
adjective1 – The White Cat by Holly Black
adjective2 – Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
item – Oracle’s Moon by Thea Harrison
occupation – The Jester by James Patterson
act of violence – Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews
adjective3 – Blameless by Gail Carriger
noun1 – Halfway to the Grave by Jeanine Frost
noun2 – Red Rose Moon by S.M. Reine

Here’s the story after you fill in the blanks. (I didn’t want to spoil it for anyone in case they wanted to play along, so for today you have to highlight the text below to see the answers.)

I just read the greatest book!

This guy Iron King ends up in the middle of a White conspiracy. Turns out his ancestors were pirates, and he might be the key to finding the Dark Moon. It’s a mythic artifact that disappeared centuries ago, and now a shadowy group of Jesters are looking for it. No one knows what uncovering it might do, but these guys are willing to Bite for it.

I won’t say anything else. But believe me, if you like Blameless stories with Graves and roses, you have to read this one.

Do you want to play along too? There’s still time! Hop on over to Cheap Thrills page and check out today’s 2nd challenge 😉
